Here I am, in one of the seaside towns in United Kingdom.

Whitby,
a very small seaside town in United Kingdom.

Here,
the people ride on boats, catch fresh fishes,
and sell them in the fish market.

Here,
the weather is unpredictable,
it can be sunny at a moment, and downpour at the next second,
but one thing for sure,
the wind is so strong and it spoiled my umbrella that day.

TOO COLD, so yeah.

Here,
we eat their famous Fish n Chips.
It is way different than the ones we try in Malaysia.
bigger portion, fresher, and tastier (even without tartar sauce)

I was a bit unlucky to have a smaller piece of Fish as compared to my friends. Their portion, is way bigger than this :/

Here,
we get to see the West Cliff and East Cliff of Whitby.
At the East side,
they have the 199 steps climb to the St. Mary Church (and graveyard),
followed by another magnificent and historical landmark named Whitby Abbey.

this is the east cliff. (spot the building at the top of cliff, its the church btw)

this is it, the St. Mary Church and graveyard.

followed by Whitby Abbey,
another historical monument.
*google to find out more. It has of course, stories behind it.

Here,
they also have colorful painted little storage rooms (along the beach),
where the fishermen store their fishing equipment in it,
and some are rented out for families who wish to store things in there, and have a family day there (picture below)

Here,
they also have lots and lots of seagulls,
just like how we have lots and lots of crows in Malaysia,
and that explains the printed image on the food boxes (picture below),
where it is stated, 'please do not feed the seagulls'

Here,
they have grasses ( I know we can see grasses everywhere) but here,
we can lay on it.
We can hardly find grasses that we can lay on in Malaysia.

If I had a chance,
I would definitely drop by again.
(I am starting to love UK more)

*will be heading to Cambridge on coming Saturday.
Stay tuned.

we are on our own

We are not in Malaysia you see.
So, we have to help ourselves out.

In here,
we do LOTS OF WALKING.
So far, we have not taken any public transport to our destinations.
Basically,
we just walk to our uni, to the shops/hypermarkets to do grocery shopping.
And believe me,
the distance from our accommodation to the respective destinations, is not short (well, that's if you assume you are walking in Malaysia with such hot weather back there)
and since we are starting to love the weather here,
so we kinda enjoy our walk (except for the sudden blowing wind)

In here,
we do our cooking.
In order to save up money for our UK day trips, Europe trip and Scotland trip,
we have to prepare our meals at home, instead of eating out.
and thankfully, I have my dear who is good in cooking (that does not mean I am not HAHA), and a bunch of not-so-picky mates.
So yeah, we prepare most of the meals together, and eat as a family.
I definitely feel the warmness around. Thanks peeps.

In here,
we wrap like a 'bak zhang' (in Hokkien).
In English, we call it meat dumplings where the Chinese wrap the glutinous rice with some beans, meats into some dry banana leaves.
So yeah, it means it's freaking cold here.
Weather in Sheffield is unpredictable.
It can be sunny at the moment and turns windy and dark on the other second.
Well, but the weather is always cooling / or cold you can say.
As I said,
we are getting used to it as days pass.

In here,
we get to speak more English than we are in college (which is a good thing for me)
So yeah, definitely looking forward to classes.
And of course, let's hope we won't get frustrated listening to some oh-my-gosh-talk-super-fast-english lecturers.

That's it.
Stay tuned.

that's my dear, standing next to me.

that's my family.
Missing all of you.

thousand miles away from home

After studying in Tarc for approximately four years plus,
I have successfully completed the Advance Diploma in Banking and Finance,
and now I am proceeding to the 3 months Degree in Sheffield, UK.

Before that,
when most of my course mates were enjoying their break before flying off,
some of us took up Chartered Financial Analyst Program.
No doubt it was a challenging pathway,
where we had to attend few consecutive hours of classes every week,
where we had to study and at the same time, envied others who were enjoying so much out there,
where we had to forgo some of the chances of going out or etc,
but thank god for providing such a good tutor.
We almost gave up, but yeah, we managed to walk through it till exam day.
Thanks for the companion, my bff.
Thanks for your guidance, CKK.

Yes,
back to the title that I have posted.

Fly off day.
Honestly, I never thought this day would come so fast.
and honestly, I couldn't describe the feelings of being away from home so almost 4 months.
And this is my very first time,
to be out of home for such a long period.

Well,
I would say I am the lucky one,
as my dearest is coming along with me.
Thank god for that.
Or else, I would be crying every night,
wanting to go home so badly.

So yeah, I had my butt on the plane seat for almost 15 hours.
It was at first quite an awful flight due to the difficulty in sleeping comfortably.
but later on, it went on well because we were getting used to it.
Food on plane was good ( for a not-so-picky-me)
I saw everyone taking picture of the food but sorry, no plane food picture, except for this cute little thing here.

After hours of flight,
here I am,
landed on Manchester airport,
sat on a coach to Sheffield, a lovely and peaceful town.
The weather is, OMGOSHSUPERFREAKING cold.
*but getting used to it now

I shall let the pictures do the talking from now onwards

Basically,
the pictures were taken when we were on our way to our accommodation.
More posts about my life in UK in future time :)
stay tuned.
